A word of warning on the MICs. The date of enlistment is actrually the date of attestation and so you'll find that the date and the number often don't tie in (particularly for those men attesting in November/December 1915 who would have then been called up at a later point in 1916 and issued with their number at that stage.)

As and when I have significant data in the 319** range I'll add to this post.

In the meantime, thanks for commenting and do check out the Manchester Regiment forum (Google for it) as an expert there may be able to assist.

Paul NixonPaul Nixonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12354531380984476532noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1944079581687608453.post-13443551305077259012009-04-28T02:34:00.000+01:002009-04-28T02:34:00.000+01:00Interesting research on regimental numbering block...Interesting research on regimental numbering blocks.
I am researching a private #31975 in the 23/Manchesters. His MIC says enlisted 29-2-16 discharged 24-4-18 (no date entered France), so from your post his regimental number is beyond the normal range of original recruits. I am wondering if he was still a Bantam? The enlistment date is the several weeks after the 35th Div. shipped to France.Simonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01642593538868274066noreply@blogger.com
