8261 Frank Woodier, Cheshire Regiment
Here's Frank Woodier's acknowledgement of the British War Medal which he returned in 1921. Frank had joined the army in 1906 and was therefore a reservist when war was declared. He was captured, along with the bulk of the 1st Cheshire Regiment, on 24th August 1914 and spent most of the remainder of the war in captivity, escaping in May 1918. His comments on the BWM made me smile: "Don't think much of it" he has written across the top right. Perhaps he thought more of the DCM which he was also awarded.
I also offer a comprehensive, fast and cost-effective military history research service. Follow the link for more information.
